Hi Mary,

Oh yes, it's all still running out there. I worked on the I/O component of MVS. The core of IOS was overhauled in the late 1970's/early 1980's, although new functionality has steadily been added. Major changes in this area were done when I started, this was when MVS went to the 2GB address space and 31 bit addressing with the advent of MVS/XA <ggg>.

PS - IBM's efforts over the past few years have not been so much in the core of the O/S, but to extend capabilities of the OS/390 box, like running Novell software under MVS, etc...
