Actually, I agree with that assessment, and I was trying to figure out the best way to put it into words. You did a fine job of it.
And remember, there is no war to win. Just lots of little battles. Gates won this battle. He's slowly losing the next one. Just as Jobs was vulnerable, so is Gates.
Assume (not that it would happen) that AOL switches the browser from IE to Netscape. Gates loses 17 million users and his share goes from about 55% to about 15% of IE browser penetration. WOW!
This hurts him tremendously. Figure then that as OS becomes obsolete due to browsers and LINUX continues it roll....MSFT becomes what IBM was. A shell of its former self. Gates is ousted...and they bring in ? This, of course, would occur over a 5-8 year time frame. But the cracks are already appearing. Quality means more now in PC software. Everyday people are realizing it now. What good is a PC that crashes every day? What good is memory that is used up even after you shut down programs? It's crazy, and MSFT has yet to fix it.

Does anyone know why iMacs won't ship from the Apple Store until late July? It's hard to believe that they are in such demand that Apple has already sold a months worth of iMacs. (Also, anyone know how many iMacs Apple can make in one month?)

I can think of several scenarios:

1. One or more large from schools or businesses.
2. A large order from Sears.
3. Not making them because they are making the consumer portable.
4. Factory is damaged.
5. People can't get enough of them.

My guess is 1 or 4.

Brian

Best scene in POSV:

Wozniak and Jobs stoked after Hewlett TURNS DOWN the PC. That is confidence!
