Figure this out, Top...

Account is about 4 months old. Got PCLN and flipped it the second or third day of trading. Got Dear Johns on:

VUSA
MMXI
ALOY
TSCM
RAMP

There may be more that I can't remember, but if so then you may rest assured that all I got was a Dear John for that, as well. Have called and asked for a clearcut explanation of their policy (old policy) and been told all of the following (paraphrased, but accurately so):

"We allocate our shares in a fair and equitable manner."

"It's not first come, first served, but our website does not contain false advertising."

"We actually have nothing to do with who gets shares. We just collect the information, turn it over to the underwriting syndicate, and they tell us who can have shares."

"It is not a lottery."

"I can't tell you what the process is, because it's against the law for me to tell you."

On some of those, I had excellent timestamps that were earlier than other posters who got shares, including admitted flippers. If anybody can figure out anysystem here, I really wanna hear it!

Top- I think the 'Tenure' expaination is the most logical:

This makes a good deal of sense. I have been an E*Trade member since the PCLN IPO, and have been getting the IPOs. Although, it's also possible that I've been getting them due to the large amount of trades I make on a daily basis, which me getting IPOs would be good business for them (commisions)

2 more possible allocation systems: Tenure & Trade-based

Re: ARIBA- same as for RAMP...

1. I have a 2 month old account with TSCM and MMXI in which I flipped HSAC the
day it started trading..and I got 100 Ramp yesterday and 100 Ariba tonight.

2. My wife's account, also 2 month's old, didnt qualify for TSCM, MMXI, or HSAC,
but finally got it's first allocation ...100 ramp but did NOT get any ARIBA tonight.

3. The day I flipped HSAC, I was concerned with the new flipping rules that were
published that day, so I opened 2 virgin accounts, again, 1 in my name, 1 in my wife's.
Tonight, neither of our clean accounts got RAMP nor any ARIBA.
