The satellite dishes used by networks like CNN and downloaded to cable are about 1000x larger and more reliable than the $100 dish a lot of people throw on their roof. It's the dinky dishes that are more susceptible to weather problems. My experience with those dishes was unpleasant, but hey maybe the technology will improve drastically and this will be the future. I genuinely don't know.
