1) Young obi won - THE most irritating character.
2) The Gungan (sp?) leader - Best character.
3) Gungan city - wish they gave it more screen time. Fantastic.
4) Anakin's virgin birth - just about ruined the whole thing for me.

Well, I am not sure what to say when you call Natalie Portman "plain looking"...But the presence of Liam Neeson at the center of the film gave it a certain gravity, enhanced by many of the other actors. Jar Jar is like Bilbo Baggins, a comic everyman who is ultimately heroic; the Gungans are actually the best worked out alien race that has appeared in the films; and their face- off with the droids has a certain nobility and poignancy. Yoda looked pretty much like Yoda, the only problem with Samuel Jackson's role was that it was a throwaway, and hence a waste of talent, and aliens are supposed to look strange. Since Darth Vader is supposed to become a Jedi first, and must come from somewhere, I am not sure what your objection is...he is not supposed to start evil, but his origins are dubious, and he is set up to stumble into bitterness. Also, the mother was excellent. Anyway, we found it "deeper" than the others, with a greater sense of character- resonance and drama...
