At least once a week, there is an add in my local paper
hawking these factory refurbished systems. I will look more closely,
but my initial reaction to these adds has been that the prices were too high

meathead...my first posting stated that dell already sells refurbished units. if this is a minor thing, as you state, why would a ceo mention it in a national interview...on line auction is a buzz word, as in e-bay....not asset recovery, not already in place..

you can't refurbish with a bto model can you?...unless you remanufacture and schedule as if new production...why dilute sales of new with refurbished..why not use the production force to build new???
think of it logically...no manufacturer who uses bto, such as the auto industry "refurbishes" at a factory level...it is always done third party, in the auto instance, by the dealer.....

so who will buy these auctioned units, what quantities, what prices???

i don't want to focus on it, but it is the only discrete "vision" that msd has spoke of that is unique to dell...all the talk of broadband and the pc's application with same, still points out that dell has a pc vision...

where are the new servers, storage, appliance, visions???? and i ask of you...what service???? they have none...ibm has, cpq has, hwp has, perot has,eds has, unisys has, wang has,fujitsu/siemens wants to challenge ibm..........and dell contracts out...enough of the fast follower repartee..it only works if you are more fleet of foot then the leader...they won the pc race...but you know more then me, what "concrete" forward plans have you heard recently from "mikie"

Meathead,
Hi!!!

Have you read recently that the premier pages have expanded?

I thought I read something today where they had...the spread was impressive in the span of going from 15k to 19k to I believe 23K..

Best, Kemble
