The total order is valued at more than $2 million and includes an NDS Director(tm) network management and receiver control system, several E5610 encoders and more than 1,600 CSR820 Commercial Satellite Receivers. This marks NDS' first end-to-end cable distribution deal in the U.S. to date, as well as the company's widest deployment of the satellite receivers to U.S. cable head-ends. It will be based in Orlando, FL and back-hauled over DS3 ATM fiber lines to Los Angeles for uplink. The remaining channel in Florida will also be made available for future growth. "FOX Sports selected NDS to provide this end to end solution based on several key factors, including NDS' exceptional video compression performance, the ease of use of the Director(tm) control system, and the overall system flexibility. We are convinced that NDS is best able to provide us the video compression, conditional access, receiver control and telco connectivity we require for this project to succeed," said Mark Coleman, VP National Technical Operations for FOX Sports Net.
