<--OT-->TP:Here is a thought,so what the Japanese came up with the BTO/JIT or whatever who cares who invented these things, who makes the money is what I am looking for. We are not giving awards here for 'inventions',and now let me thank the Japanese, the Koreans and the Chinese and my mother-in-law without whose support I would be nothing today, thank you again for the BTO/JIT crap.

tp..."single source suppliers"

only intc fits...how about msft.....

dell two main suppliers, which provided the very essence of computing are "sole source"

this is the point i'm trying to make, but the majority of respondents, who don't have a clue about the delicate balance of a bto model, only want to quote chapter and verse from "direct from dell"

dell has not lived through an economic downturn, and doesn't know or can predict how such a down turn can effect the supply chain....much as jpns business didn't realize they would ever enter a period of less then prosperity.....
