MSFT - there is Linux, especially on servers.

More to the point, Intc and Msft are rather special cases. Their position as monopolies or near monopolies means they are a single supplier to the competitors too. More importantly it means that they will not underbid their competition to the point that they go out of business leaving Dell in the lurch. Most of the other component makers have multiple sources, so if one video maker has problems they can switch to another.

The proof that Dell is carefull in these arrangements is that their only close supplier (One where they trust a lot of business) is IBM, which also has little risk of dissapearing.
