JD: Microsoft being a monopoly is less valid today as it was back then. Back then, one could argue well that they were, although there is no mathematical proof available that would satisfy everybody. That they used illegal barriers to block their competitors is a given, in my opinion. How was the consumer harmed? By cutting Novell and Netscape off at the knees, they removed the consumer's choice and price competition.
