I was referring to NEC and Hitachi agreeing to "cooperate" or is it collusion? If that is not some further consolidation, then I don't know what is:

As for consolidation, two Taiwanese firms switched production from DRAM to foundry, and several Japanese firms announced that they were also going to be reducing output and concentrating on more specialized products. And if anyone actually buys RDRAM, that will also help soak up some capacity as production will be reduced about 20% worldwide due to larger die sizes and lower yields.
