Ahhaha this is why I think the economic scene will never make real sense again. This might be to basic for you to understand, but here goes nothing...
My point has been, is, and always will be that the "new information era" we live in has changed the way the 'stock market' and 'basic economy' are entangled. The markets no longer follow any type of fundamental reasoning. They can't because to many people now have involvement with it. People are dumping money into this market that do not even have a clue as to what interest rates are! People are buying stocks that trade @ 400X earnings because the stock had dropped 20% over the last 2 months (buy low, sell high). Anyone that can get their hands on $2K can immediately start pouring money into the market, and they are! My cleaning lady gives me stock picks, the bagger at the grocery store owns some internet stock, most of the tellers at my bank have online accounts. The list goes on and on.... There are 3 steps to this formula that IMO has changed the face of our economy and market relationship. #1-Internet and mass media allows uninformed investors and gamblers to become involved easily. #2-Greed has escalated higher than fear because of an imbalance of uninformed investing. #3-Market rises no matter what the economic data says.
That is why we are all scratching our heads as the market just continues to rise, no matter what the consequences. Hope my line of thought didn't lose you...LOL
