djane, This article is a load of crap. CSCO leads the planet in opposing open systems. Every group in the IETF has CSCO's proprietary proposals clogging up the works. This guy is definitely a J.C. disciple. Fortunately, its' customers know this. Can you (or anyone) believe this statement? "All of the indicators I look at, having done 34 acquisitions myself, are what we would expect of a large, bi-coastal, bad-cultural- fit acquisition." LU and ASND are a great fit. Is this Listwin character for real ?? What does he know about the technology and intellectual leadership, especially of another company ? And he expects to find all of them in a conference booth ??? Yeah right, Ascend always consults him beore hiring talent so he is up-to-date regarding their R&D dept... and that of Bell Labs. Cisco is sounding so desperate that its scary. Funny thing is that you never see any other Gorilla company like Intel and Texas Instruments talk about their competitors (AMD, LU, MOT) like that. They are way too refined and busy building better products. -Hitesh
