I predict that no one will buy nvidia until all those stock options come free over the next several months. Does anyone know the exact numbers and times? Something like $18 million over the next 3 months???

Doesn't sound like much, but we've certainly seen (with 3dfx) how strong the dilution effect can be on these small cap stocks. (insiders selling recently, creative buying $10 million and then selling it back off last winter, for some examples). Can easily do a -$5/share swing.

Possibilites:

1. Creative buys nvidia after the stock price has setteled down. Creative is too cheap to do otherwise.
2. nvidia buys Hercules or a small taiwan based board maker.

S3-3Dfx deal had legs

Sources close to the discussions have confirmed that 3DFx made an offer for S3.

But it was an offer that S3 could and did refuse. Instead, earlier this week, it bound
Diamond.

The issue at question for 3DFx is that its next generation chip, Napalm, has some
problems with features and functionality, according to the source.

While Nvidia's NV10 chip is exciting, the source said, the only thing that comes close
to it is the S3 GX4.

It "has a smaller die size and is the only serious contender on the block". For that
reason, 3DFx wanted S3.

Unfortunately, it couldn't have, our source said. S3 turned down 3Dfx's offer. ®
