recent study I saw ranked Brown & Co and Ameritrade tops for speed of execution. however, I don't recall how they rated for customer service, quality of data & research provided, and IPO access, etc. Apart from basic execution of trades, they don't offer much else.

I checked out ETrade's recent IPO offers - if I'd applied to most of them, I would have made a killing - even 60 days after they were issued. I'm taking my business to them. (I've also discussed them with a fair number of users, and they are satisfied with ETrade).

Incidently, Merrill Lynch's plan of a $1500 flat rate + 1% of account appears to be a rather excellent deal as well. Will need to give it serious thought when it launches.
