The Democrats assume that the natural state of affairs is that they will rule, which is why they are always sure that Republicans only win through smarmy tactics. After all, aren't Democrats "for the people"? I am a convention- watcher, and I remember in the '80s a comparison of the delegates at the two conventions that revealed that more of the Republicans were college educated than the Democrats. One would have expected the conclusion to be that Republicans are better informed or smarter. Instead, it played as proof the Democrats were more "inclusive". Similarly, I suppose the Jerry Springer presidency shows that Democrats "understand"...
