It certainly sounds like a responsible thing to do for an IR department to monitor conversations of potential investors so as to be able to clarify any questions or misconceptions. Isn't it?

That is one assumption. Another might be that IR monitors your - ColleenB's - posts on Silicon Investor which rely heavily on the posts made by others on RB, including the one in question. LOL
