I think Datek is good. Only problem is if you have to short then nobody can beat RT3 brokers.

Yeah, I am probably a little biased because they are such a schlocky operation, service-wise. And, I traded out at Broadway (which I liked), and gained a somewhat negative impression of the Datek operation close-up. But I can see the advantages if you're willing to put up with all of that: cheap, $8 trades; some great fills since tightly-coupled to ISLD, nice interface with DaSlinger, etc. So, I'm probably a little over-harsh on them. For my purposes, I need/prefer direct access; however Datek should be compared to ETrade and Schwab Online - that is their real competition.

Good trading, -Steve

Of course Datek blows ETrade away! Problem is, it is still not good enough for 3-5 minute trades! The amount of time I spent just waiting for the browser to change from order entry to confirmation, then have to check daily activity to see if order filled and price. If partial fill (a lot) and market moves away from my price, no chance to get filled in a short time, have to cancel order and wait for another confirmation page¡K

Truth is, if I can't have my Level 2 and charts, I wouldn't trade at all. It's like driving blind. So doesn't matter if I could trade Datek anywhere.

Will open an account with MBT sometime next week. Although commission quite high compared to Datek, figure I could save some money on the data feed (mine currently at close to $300/mo). Also realize the difference could be made up by just one trade that could not otherwise be made with Datek¡K
