ttosbt...re: "stock price versus company fundamentals"

your "observed opinion", is perhaps more fact then fantasy.
i've been investing and trading for thirty years...this phenomena is fairly recent, it came with the market as a by product of liquidity.

keeping your thought in mind, the fundamentals in many instances, differ from stock price depending on "perception", the "perception" has no basis in fact, but it becomes reality as it causes stock movement.

identify stocks similar to dell, as in large cap hi techs...look at current market valuations and you will find a common denominator..those who trade today close to a high have had proactive ceo's who have been telling the markets what they want to hear...so i will accept criticism from the "zealots", that "hype" is not part of a ceo job description....but in today's world of instant mass media exposure, it becomes a ceo's function, he must play the game, or else he sacrifices stock price.......it will not "save" an issue in an overall weak market, but as a market moves up, the proactive ceo will see his stock rise swiftly...as in ibm,hwp,csco...

coincidence, speculative conclusion on my part....or perhaps reality?
dell zealots can crunch the numbers all they want, they can be critical of all who point out a chink in the shiny armor of "sir mikey", they can spout chapter and verse about being in for the long term...but their actions, and remarks driven by their own fear and anxiety show vividly as they appear each day on the thread, watching minute by minute price action.....a bit of a contradiction...why cheer lead or negate contra opinions if you are so sure....the problem is that no dell shareholder is sure of dell future beyond the pc...so we all must continue to "watch this space"...so the challenge is out...if the future is clear, why the angst and the reactions it manifests????

i'm not a bear, i'm long 30000 shares of dell, short 15000 shares via puts(betting dell above 60 in ian 01, 900k exposure)...i'm not critical of contra opinions..but i'm "perceived" that way...perhaps, i have more confidence then the "zealots"????
