Tony,

AMD has a really poor track record

A year ago, AMD was a lap behind Intel. They are just about to pass them with K7. That's not such a bad track record, is it?

Thank you for the clear and concise answer to my question. As I understand it, it is socket compatibility - not necessarily the ability to run the same software - as I understand it Alpha can run NT. But, would it not be possible to switch motherboards in order to take advantage of higher speed now, both in the CPU and in the bus and still run whatever software you're using now? Obviously, I am not a "techie," I just try to understand what I'm investing in, and I am convinced that the tech stocks represent the true infrastructure of our time. Thanks again.
