Oh God- I do that. And sometimes I put baking soda in to kill the smell (when it is just a tad too pungent even for my tastes)

I haven't done that yet, but I almost did it yesterday. I took a load out of the washer that had been there since the day before, and noticed the clothes smelled a mite sour. In hot weather, I think it happens pretty fast.

<Most people don't rewash the same load of clothes two or three times because they've left it in there till it mildewed? Mr. X needs to get out more.>

Oh boy, I am feeling like a domestic GODDESS now because I rarely am so slovenly that the clothes mildew in the washer. However, I must confess that the last load for the week often makes it to the dryer but no further, where it sits very dry but getting more and more wrinkled every day, until I take it out and start all over by washing it again seven days hence.

Ahhh, the cycle of life!!
