Do you have a URL for that news?
I've been to Motorola's web site and didn't see anything about it anywhere there. I DID see this on there site though:

Motorola has begun sampling of the CopperGold Lite chip set, and expects to ramp to production levels in Q3 1999.

Also didn't get the story in any of my news clippings.

I think Conexant probably has the best solution. They are using PairGain's Falcon chip, which I believe is the lowest power single chip implementation of DMT on the market. Additionally, given the fact most modems in the world today use Conexant(Rockwell) modems, Conexant seems like the place to be for ADSL/analog modems. I saw the Conexant combo board at Supercomm in the UAWG interoperability area and was impressed.
