Agree totally...also...you must take into account that cutting down product life cycle times, in the case delivering all IP (VOIP) is a major advantage even if this Intellectual Property (if you want to call it that) is shared. Developing technology all day is not a level3 core competency....it is Lucent's/Bellcore etc....This helped "push" the industry equipment makers in the direction of Level3's strategic path. Time to market will be cut down significantly now rather than being the pirate and going it alone!
