Peter,

You should have told me you were there - we could have met up. I was there yesterday between 11am and 1pm. Myself and a Novell rep went to the Novell booth to see what was going on. The Umbrella gimmick was a bad idea I think. Many of the Novell trade floor walkers weren't impressed as they could tell that the vast majority of the audience were only there because of the Umbrella and could not care what Novell had to offer.

What you didnt mention and what I was even more impressed with was Novell and IBM's 12 node clustering demonstration. It was incredible! I already have a customer that can use this solution - unfortunately it wont be ready for production release until about Q3 (and that was an estimate by the presenter there). It was slick!

Other than that Peter, I would have to say that it is my personal opinion that PC-Expo was a waste of time for me. Thankfully I didnt have to pay to browse around and that I was in NYC on the same week for a business meeting. I cant believe how many of the attendees are simply there to get a T-Shirt, Umbrella, blinking button, or pen! I can only imagine the amount of money their companies wasted in sending them to this show. These shows have become sooo tacky. I hate sounding so down (its not normally my nature) but that is clearly what I felt about that show.

What was your overall impression on the value of PC-Expo?

Too bad we didnt meet up!

Peter- you are right on!

I get a good laugh every day as people in my Agency try to save Microsoft application files "as HTML."

Just because it's on the menu, people think it will work! What a great prank by the funny people in Redmond.

(Novell- a bet Microsoft is too big and bloated to keep it's poop in a pile.)
