Definition: Cold War - U.S. standoff with USSR/China et al. Skirmishes were not an issue. Total destruction was. Reagan won, Clinton zero.

C'mon, get real, it's the economy stupid. Clinton didn't so much as look at a foreign newspaper until six months ago. He cares little for foreign policy, even has boasted about that in the past. But now that he needs to look presidential (due to his sole legacy as Oval Office Sperm Donor), he has discovered the might of the military. It's as simple as that.

Actually, in the Korean War, the Chinese were heavily involved as were the Soviets. This was a primary cause of US reluctance to escalate the Vietnam War to the extent necessary for victory. The Korean War was resolved with the establishment of separate Koreas.

The Balkan crisis is not a communist versus democrat struggle. They are all communists and thugs. They just tried two Bosnian Croats for war crimes. The former Czechosolovakia, the Baltic states, and CIS were more peaceful disintegration of former states. Russia-Czechnya and the Baltic states were examples of violent disintegration of states.

Turkey and Greece weren't likely to be involved in the Kosovo conflict. If they had followed the Bosnian accords, the Kosovo conflict would likely have been resolved far more satisfactorily for all sides, except perhaps the KLA.
