"Mr Bigglesworth, I believe someone has stolen my Voo-Doo!" After 3 months of having EverQuest lock up on me in the Inventory screen, I decided to uninstall my Voodoo 3 and reinstall my TNT. I played 4 hours last night, and it didn't lock once! Here are some of my observations from the experience: - Don't click the "Yes To All" button when uninstalling drivers and Windows says the driver isn't used anywhere else. At some point undeleting 3dfx drivers and tools, it deleted my copy of riched20.dll from c:\windows\system. I couldn't read my mail messages this morning until I copied a version off of my backup hard drive. - Everquest always looks to use Glide before D3D, so I got the funniest little Error box when launching everquest.exe: Title was "Error", no text, and just an OK button! That's what precipitated removing all the 3dfx drivers and glide.dll's. - I had about 20 glide*.dll and glide*.ovl files out there! Guess I need to clean my registry. (I've owned every 3dfx product line.) - The Unified drivers don't support Glide 3, but I'll try them out this weekend. I HAVE to be able to play GTA in 3dfx mode! - Don't sell your V2's until you are sure all your games run fine. :( Don't think I enjoyed doing this. I can no longer develop Glide 3 stuff on my main computer. I'll transfer my Voodoo3 to my second computer, replacing the Banshee, but I don't want to develop on a 15" monitor. I harbor no ill will against 3dfx or the V3, and intend on buying the next gen product, if not the 3500TV. I don't think this is their problem. I somehow think it is Verant's. I have several friends with V3's that have no problem.
