Grace, thanks for that find. I referenced your post in that most venerable of institutions here on SI, The LMT, or the Last Mile Thread, in case you are interested.

Sorry for leaving out one of the c's in your last name, but the edit monster came crashing down too soon. It happens to me too, that is, the missing c, or the double l, all the time.

They can even use their laptops to wirelessly access the Internet while they sit on their patio or couch
I want that! Gimme!
Glad to see someone was smart enough to build it into the modem.

It will be very good for @home to cut down on installers running the cable around the house to places where TV didnt normally go. Even for something as basic as putting my laptop on the dining room table I expected major headaches.

Then consider the latest devices (such as Windows CE) that are a tablet format with a touch screen and weigh only a couple of pounds- add always on broadband access without wires and you have a killer app. Someday everyone can plop this down on the kitchen table while they eat their morning breakfast while they watch streaming video "Television" or check the news.

Only 6 more months till cable is available here (they say). Still waiting... I wonder if I should be like the Star Wars fanatics and camp out on their doorstep so I'll be first in line.
