True Story: My dad was a fighter in his youth, and remained a fan of the sweet science until he died. He took me to see Willie Pep in person in the early 50s, near the end of his career. He was one of the cleverist I've ever seen, and used his laces to great advantage. Years later I read a news story about Pep, then in his 70s. Two large sized punks tried to carjack him in Washington, DC. By the time the cops got there, one guy had a busted arm and nose and was down for the count, and 125 pound Willie was standing on the other guy's back while he pleaded for mercy.
