DlphcOracl. . .it doesn't happen often. . .but I agree with everything you say about QWST. I agree totally, that the smart investor takes full advantage of the negative sentiment toward the mergers. And I do think that QWST is making an attempt at becoming the "leader" in fibre optics. . .and enjoy the mutual fund investments that go with such a leadership role. . .I suspect they wish to have everything in place by November, to appeal to the January effect fund manager/buyers [which no longer hits in January, but early December. . and this year, perhaps even late November].

And yes, buying Frontier and US West may very well be compared to MCI/Worldcom. . . suddenly. . . seemingly out of nowhere. . .a monster emerges.

I cannot comment on the price of QWST at this time, because I have not studied the chart or historicals yet. But I also agree with your "no-lose" op scenario. We like the high percentage plays, where risk is reduced. . .and for QWST. . .risk is quite low at this point, win or lose.

Be sure to keep one eye on Global Crossing, however. . . they will not go down without a good fight. . . perhaps a bit of hedging at first . . .going into both. . .may be in order.

Great job,
