People are patriots when they love their country and wish to make it better-because opinions differ on just HOW to make it better, there will be many different kinds of patriots. It seems entirely logical that one patriot could ridicule another

Is that an entirely subjective approach, or is there an objective component to it? In the 40s and 50s some very bright liberals, including some friends of my family, believed that Communism was the best thing that could happen to our country. They loved this country enough, in their view, to try to turn it into a communist country. By your definition, they could have been considered patriots. Do you consider them to have been patriots? Or is there some objective component to patriotism, and if so what is it?

Damn, I got sucked into the patriotism debate I tried to stay out of.
