I don't feel separate from animals, myself, nor do I understand the fixation on defining the points of divergence. My animals and I get along at the same level just fine. They tend to shirk doing housework, but the cats keep the place rodent-free, and the dog barks, which is more than I can say for my children. I've never asked them what they think about Bach.
