What makes anyone think that a .25 or .50 or even a .75 increase is going to change spending habits of consumers abruptly? The underwriting on home equity loans is already loose as can be. (Thee old game of "What do you want your house to be worth" so the loan will go thru.)

And what about credit card underwriting, or perhaps.... what about the absence of credit card underwriting?

If some analysts shoot their mouths off about selling retail stocks (the real ones not the internet fluff) because of a rate hike, then buy the dip. Consumers aren't done buying. Just be sure to ask the Bestbuy shareholders and not the CompUSA ones. <g>
