I told my son the same thing.

He didn't listen.

I am terrified that their protections will fail -- no protection is perfect -- or worse that she will stop using protection and lie about it (there is NO recourse for a man if a woman says she is on the pill and is lying about it, whereas it's pretty obvious if a man claims he is using a condom but isn't) to trap him, and there go all his plans for his life. Poof. Just like that.

It's easy to say "remain chaste." Raging teen hormones, both male and female, do NOT listen to logic.

Probably a good thing for the human race -- if people only had unprotected sex when they rationally decided they were both ready for children, the human race would have died out long ago. But devestating in this day and age for people who will have a great deal of difficulty establishing a financially secure life if they have a child at the age of 19 or 20.
