JUST the thing to close out Q2/99 on DAR. A discussion of pervert angels.

Btw Ish - I saw your comment on Homo peckerensis and thought it was too perfect just the way you presented it.

How about a non-fairy tale: an explanation of the evil streak in human nature, a story that gives real meaning to the otherwise unrooted concepts of justice, morality, and sin, a hope that this brief time on earth isn't all that exists. The Stoics saw many such things that resonated with their pagan religion. The "fairy story" elements are hardly something included to entertain: they were claims to verify that the creator of worlds had come to visit in real time and space. The people of that day knew the prophesies in the ancient books, like Isaiah and Daniel and Micah, and were watching for someone to fit the bill. There were a plethora of "messiahs" that laid claim to the title. I'm not trying to be insulting. Most of this is very elementary theological history, maybe I simply was lucky to have some good teachers.
