I have to take some time to get used to this.
I hadn't realized this was your first house! No wonder you're so nervous!
Our first house -1980- I was pregnant, Dan had just taken the bar. We had NO money-- what little we had was going to pay for the baby as our insurance wasn't covering us- some mess-up about getting pregnant under one policy and switching before it was confirmed and the second one wouldn't cover because it was pre-existing. My mother gave us 5000 for the down payment, bless her. But I can remember watching Dan's hands shaking as he signed that over, and we went through all those papers-- it felt soooo permanent. Now I have to laugh- the house was 1500 square feet, and cost 50K. We sold it three years later for 76 and thought we were geniuses. THen we lost it all on our next house. It was kinda like the market.
