Northern Light is in fact the largest search aengine... i beleive they recently got over 30Million in venture financing here are the stats notess.com

I think these companies have to start thinking more about brand name recognition and less about eyeballs. There is no loyalty. I thought Disney/Go was onto something... But no... I was very surprised they didn't add a "character" to their website. A Mickey Mouse of the 90's Lycos has that stupid dog but they really should do more with it... Make it the spuds Mackenzi of the web ...ya know Altavista is ugly but powerful... their webpage isn't catchy..but I love it... then again I use it for power searches... Most poeple want a nice GUI..
