NetZero must have improved their capacity...

I tried NetZero right when they launched the service a year or so ago, and sporadically since. I was interested in investigating the quality of the NetZero service. Of the 30 or 40 sessions I attempted, 80% of the time I had difficulty getting a port (i.e., constant busy signals). I am in Orange County, CA, and NetZero does have an impressive list of access points here; however, IMO they are seriously overburdened.

The experience was like AOL's access problems of old, only worse -- BTW, I have not received a busy signal accessing AOL in at least six months, which I find truly amazing.

Once connected, I found NetZero did deliver what they promised. The ad banner was not overly annoying. In fact, if you configured a virtual desktop you could move it entirely offscreen. Perhaps they have solved that little oversight by now.

AOL BUSY SIGNAL??? I haven't had a busy signal with AOL in over a year. And today I was shocked...I signed onto AOL at 0600 am...left my computer running all day...came home at 5PM and I was STILL signed onto AOL!!! With my DATEK streaming ticker as the front page (thank goodness mostly green down the line!)

How's that for AOL EVERYWHERE...all the time?!
