>I gave up on classical music stations a long time ago. My particular breaking point was Handel, endlessly playing the "Water Music"... <

Dear me, yes. Of course there is nothing wrong with Handel, Mozart, etc., but it gets a bit much considering the vast quantities of music available.

I find the same thing happening with jazz. Jazz ain't jazz no more. Thank heavens for Oscar Peterson, Clifford Brown and old Myles (Myles got a little goofy there at the end). Today every dang thing is "Smooth Jazz." You folks have the problem too. I'm listening for jazz down here and what do I find, "Smooth" dang jazz, as if real jazz is "rough." Fortunately in NY one can still go hear fantastic jazz. Perhaps you can hear it here too, but dang! It don't seem like it.

Rock is the same. I don't know what is popular anymore because it all is so dang stupid I've just tuned it out. Rap is so dang stupid it ought to be banned (grin). Thank heavens for CD's. My kids laugh at the kind of rock I listen to. But once while out driving around with them a guy came driving near us booming the dang place out with some Rap garbage. I rolled the winder down to my car and cranked the heck outta some Bruford. My kids started cracking up and trying to hide. I just kinda slid down in the car, cool like, put on some sunglasses and kinda started nodding my head like I was The Stuff. My kids soon started jamming, so they can relate. (grin)

>I take it you haven't made Mama Ayesha's... <

Not yet. Been terribly busy. Soon though. Dang. Can't wait to get home. Talking about my kids makes me soooooo homesick. I leave home for more than a week and I get really dang sentimental. Shoot. I'm so dang happy to have a wonderful wife and kids.

>Johannes, the principal thing I do in New York (almost upon me) is go to the Met, the MOMA, sometimes the Guggenheim, and sometimes the Whitney.<

Very good, every one. You may be surprised but I often enjoy the MOMA, at least I used to. I haven't visited the museums as much as I once did. I can walk to some of the museums from my place in NYC. So I used to go all the time.

>I go to almost every show at the National Gallery, and many at the other museums in the area (including the two major art museums in Baltimore). I love the stuff, and I am trying to teach my son to love it...<

Wasn't Van Gogh just here? Did you see him? No doubt the place was crawling with folks.

>I consider the Brother's K to be the greatest novel ever written.<

Yup, it is definitely amongst the top three in my opinion.

>I think that you are right about the scene being in Karenina, but it has been a few years...<

Same here.

>>I gave up on classical music stations a long time ago. <<

If you have a Microsoft web feed, try the station, "Shalom America."

They have "Kleizmania" at 2pm EST, and Great Cantors at 11:00 am.
