An article on the CMGI/Alta Vista deal in today's Wall Street Journal states: "CMGI and Compaq say they will spend $100 million in the next 18 months to promote AltaVista and transform it into what CMGI calls a 'megaportal'". Sounds like they are creating a portal to me. The article also speculates that CMGI will take AltaVista public soon. The internet IPOs march on.
