Actually, I read that Wit normally uses a first come first serve approach (not a lotery), which will DIFFER from the approach they will take with Engage, which won't depend on how early you respond.

Hi Shadowed:

I do not participate in Engage IPO for my tax deferred account. There is no time. But I submitted 2 new account applications for my regular accounts.

The IPO of Engage for CMGI shareholders is under Directed Shares Program (DSP). As an owner of CMGI we are invited to buy Engage at IPO price. This is different from non CMGI shareholders going to Wit Capital website and submit a request to participate in the IPO. The latter allocation would be different from DSP. In summary:

CMGI shareholder : Invited, guanranteed will get it
Wit Capital account holder but not CMGI shareholder : An Opportunity to participate, no guarantee.

The negative side: CMGI determines how many shares are set aside for DSP, with a minimum, let us just say 25 shares. If only half will participate (the paperwork to open the account is like pulling tooth), then you might get 50 shares, etc. no information about the number of shares as just yet. On the other hand, if you go through the "Opportunity" channel and win the lottery (selected based on random numbers rectangular distribution), you can get round lots (100 shares or more). If everyone already gets 100 shares, the remainder is again distribute to customers asking more than 100 shares etc. Some people do it with both channels: ask for DSP and Opportunity Program.

The above scenario is not Wit Capital policy, but I just went through an experience with E-trade with DSP of E-Loan. Well the stock of E-Loan about triples its IPO price, so no complain from moi.

Best regards,

Paul
