<<What is the general thought on SEG's worth in holdings unrelated to disk drive; Veritas, San disk, Dragon, etc?>>

The stake in VRTS is worth almost $14 a share at today's prices. The other stuff (Seagate Software, Dragon, SanDisk) is probably worth between $1 and $5.

I hope SEG is buying back their shares hand over fist today. I am considering selling my QNTM bought two months at $18 and putting it in SEG. As if what I am doing means diddly to anyone. <g>

Mark,

Let me amend my last post. I hadn't quoted SNDK for a while and was surprised it had gone up so much. Let me try again.

33 million shares of VRTS worth $14 a SEG share. (Depends on how many shares outstanding)

23% stake in SNDK worth $1.25

IMG part of Seagate Software worth $2-3. This is a Bear Stearns est. from an April 23 report.

Stake in Gadzoox worth $1-2. Also from Bear Stearns.

Stake in Dragon worth $1. Bear Stearns estimate.

Cash. Depending on buybacks, maybe $2.

Total, including cash, $21.25 to $23.25. Doesn't leave much value for disk drive businesses does it?
