Pete,

Because of this a rising yen is a direct threat to U.S. shares, as it may wipe out the profits of Japanese holders of Treasuries, causing them to sell.

''Watch the yen but more importantly watch the bond market.''

Interesting article. I can understand where he is coming from in most areas but not the above one.

As Warren says every year as a response to the Japanese holding US bonds question "....you have to ask yourself the quesion and then what."

I agree that there is excess in this market but I don't think the above statement will harm us.

I raised some cash on June 30 in my 401k that only allows us to trade once per quarter AND on the last day of the month that we choose. I can't wait until daily valuation. Amazing program for a Fortune 150 company. I pulled out a fair amount of money that I put in last September. I had been gradually raising cash in 1998 for a buying opportunity, especially via my 401k.

At this time, key words, I plan on raising significant cash at the end of July in my 401k (this would be my one allowed move for 3rd quarter). I would rather lock in egregious gains and miss a few % to the upside. I just can't see this going more than 4-5% more to the upside before the end of 1999. I am quite happy being patient.

My equity allocation would still be 60%. I am in the process this weekend of seriously reviewing my strategy for my IRAs and cash accounts. I may take that equity % down to 50%.

If the Starship Commander changes his stance at any time I will be going to cash, as will the Mary Kay gang. The only problem I have at this point is I am mandated in my 401k to own my company's stock with 50% of every dollar I put in. I can't sell unless I leave.

Does anyone else have a similar problem? Any suggestions? I have thought about put options but I am not an "options kind of guy".
