Teflon, I checked the news story; It was out around 3:15 on Bloomberg and the PR story was posted on the thread earlier. Did not affect the price going into the close. In addition, i have checked this one(below)----Seems to hint that it is going to be like last quarter's call. Could it be that some of the revenue from Office2k that they were planning to defer in this quarter might come back into earnings. I had thought they were defering Revenue recognition from Office to June and even September quarter (the september quarter deferal puzzled me)

Another possibility could be recognizing possible legal settlements in earnings. The Caldera suit----MSFT motions to have the charges dismissed without trial were denied.

Here is the Reuters version

Microsoft CFO to hold call with analysts
REDMOND, Wash., June 30 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. said it would hold a conference call with financial analysts Wednesday afternoon to discuss unspecified "accounting and disclosure matters."
Officials of the software giant said there were no plans to discuss or "prerelease" earnings for the fourth quarter in the call with Chief Financial Officer Greg Maffei.

Microsoft held a similar call near the end of the third quarter to discuss accounting treatment of its Office 2000 product. A company spokesman said Wednesday's call would be "along those lines," but he declined to say what product or products were involved
