SH... I tried to get improve service into my home... and looking into xDSL from number of providers ... seems that they ALL somehow use or need COVD .... so I've been real interested in COVD and entered today on the gap.... I don't know whether xDSL will prevail over other methods (cable, wireless) but I do know that a lot of people around here Boston are looking at it...COVD growth rate is not bad either ...

So, I for one would be interested in what you can find out so that I can be more AWRE, then the PAIR of us can do well<g>

Availability of DSL
I checked into DSL for my home. I live in Louisville, Colorado and have US WEST as my telephone company. They said that I was unable to receive the DSL service because of my phone lines. There are some really funny requirements (of which I don't recall) for DSL and it rules out a bunch of people from getting this service. Has anyone else run into this problem? What companies are in the process of developing a fix? Consequently I had to settle on wireless, ATEL the provider was bought out by Sprint, and the old 56K.

My point is that Broadband is great and all but it is no good if the technology leaves out a large portion of the population. Duh! I would be interested in the companies that are developing the technology to fix this type of problem.

Very informative post...thanks. I watched AWRE run from the 30's to the 70's...still trying to understand why PAIR and WSTL haven't a run yet. Looks like Cramer's gang is short on PAIR...couple recent negative write-ups (I assume...haven't read them)

XDSL has significant potential...DSL has some advantages over the cable...also, expecting AOL to roll something out in the way of reasonably priced DSL soon to compete with ATHM. The key is to try to figure out who their partners will be....

I believe both the providers (ie COVD, NPNT) and the equipment makers (AWRE, PAIR, WSTL) are worth understanding...
