Microsoft Corp. (MSFT): The world's biggest software maker's chief financial officer, Greg Maffei, said the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is reviewing its accounting policies regarding its financial reserves. The company said it's cooperating with the SEC in its review. The review was sparked by an article in the Wall Street Journal, Maffei said. Maffei said analysts consensus earnings estimates are on the mark. The company is expected to earn 35 cents a share for the fiscal fourth quarter. Microsoft rose 2 3/16 to 90 3/16.

i guess the investigation is about taking reserves ---being too conservative in their accounting. Per WSJ interview on CNBC.
Ex-empolyee sued the company saying MSFT took up reserves to smooth earnings. However, MSFT had already replied with a 1600 page reply.

I bet other companies would love to have these kinds of problems.
