Per, online accounts are not the full story there are shops (also called trading rooms) all over the USA with millions of day traders.

Now a Cafe in New York fancy 57th street has opened sponsored by Siebel (spl?) to trade stocks and have a cup of cafe.

If this is not a sign of a top I wonder which will be,

Haim

Per,

I don't know where any statistics for online traders are but I have seen comments by the industry saying that online traders performed worse than buy-and-hold investors. One can only imagine in these last few months of wild swings that these non-professional traders are getting caught at every turn. Add to these the amateurs at the day-trading boiler rooms and I see liquidity draining out faster than coming in, since new trading capital is often borrowed money and doesn't grow on trees.
