Who cares about the fact that shorting against the box is a constructive sale (in most cases). The point of going short at a brokerage other than Wit is to accomplish a "virtual" flip of the stock - something you can't do directly at Wit. Here are the salient ?s to pose:

1. Do SECs rules prohibit shorting a new stock for 30 days - i have heard this

2. As a practical matter, is there any supply or shortable stock to be had?
