O, I have to agree with you...Kauai is one of my favorites. I just got back from there a few weeks ago (visitors in town)...did the tourist thing AGAIN...and I loved every single minute of it!!! Kauai is the island that Hollywood uses for all its backdrops: Jurrassic Park, King Kong, Six Days/Seven Nights, South Pacific, Waterworld and the list goes on... They even have a "Movie Tour" now that takes you to all the sights and shows you clips from the movies as you go along. Kauai has the Na Pali coast...and it is truly spectacular! Kauai has the most beaches then any of the other islands...but they all have great beaches...however, on the BIG ISLAND you have to really hunt for them...all that lava flow is in the way!
