Its my understanding (I could be way off here) that the King James revisers were a hastily assembled lot and did not use old texts, but merely changed a few things around in the Catholic bible. Not that they were not erudite men, the language of the King James is wonderful poetry. My favorite example of a change that was made is in the 23rd Psalm (22nd Psalm in the Douay-Rheims version).

King James: ...my cup runneth over, surely goodness and mercy will follow me

Douay-Rheims:...and my chalice which inebriateth me, how goodly is it!

It seems those dour Calvinists didn't want us getting into the hootch!
