Kelly, I read the article and it scared me. It sounds too much like 1929. Fortunately, the Fed knows what it is doing now. It didn't in '29.

Kelly...re Newsweek article....

Stunning, but true....> 4 million millionaires.
I agree with LindyBill..scary.....I see this on my own street. I am a professionally successful physician earning in the low 6 digits..yet on my street, I am a pauper....might as well be sweeping the street...the other guys in the neighborhood work for Fidelity, Putnam, ML, or have taken their software company(s) public. You have to have some self-control to realize your net value to society, apart from comparing who is driving what, to remind yourself you're doing OK. Fortunately, here in New England, people tend not to be real showy, and are generally conservative. It's 1999, and they're just discovering in-ground sprinklers and pools out here.

but frankly, this tech boom should continue thru the next decade, especially with the rest of the world gearing up and expanding. I think we will see more of the same in terms of wealth creation. Hopefully, values of hard work will not disappear.

Dow 11111, which is a fun number. Thanks Kelly for the article. It has an air about it that the newfound wealth is all some fantasy realm which is going to go away sometime. The wheel, the axe, the printing press, the industrial revolution and the political changes over the past thousands of years aren't going to go away.

Neither is this technological Web-brain zygote going to go away. We are witnessing in real ADSL time [idle boast there after two days use of it - which incidentally isn't all that good because they need filters on the line so we can hear people at the other end without saying 'pardon' every two seconds - but it IS quick], sorry, back to the story, an unimaginably important 'event'.

Even those who enviously eye their neighbour's [neighbor's] Mercedes won't miss out. They'll enjoy the product of the 'event'. They'll have Anita [TM] gadgets, a Graviton Spin Reversal transporter, DNA enhancements, cloning, communications, instant information [clicking on those little Encyclopedia Britannica thingies was neat - like an instantly accessible memory system]. Maybe they won't be rich compared with those who create or make really good use of the 'event' = The New Paradigm but they'll do okay.

It is a LOT of fun owning Mighty Q! which is creating and using the 'event' right before our eyes. In real ADSL time [not envious of you now Ramsey].

Mqurice

PS: Hay Lindy, don't be scared, take a positive view of life and enjoy yourself and The New Paradigm [just kidding as I know you pride yourself on doing just that]. Sure there is a bit of 1929 in the Dow being at 11111, but it gets cleaned out from time to time and is reasonable right at present [nothing that a little dip towards 8222 won't fix].
